Looking for a fun, interactive science activity for your students? Want to give them an exciting project to keep them curious during breaks? Perhaps you’re looking for a way for your organization to give back to your community, all while enjoying the great outdoors! If this is you, join Piedmont Wildlife Center for a Virtual Citizen Science experience and become Turtle Trekkers!

Our Triangle Turtle Trekkers program is a citizen science project aiming to photograph and monitor eastern box turtles across the state of NC; our focus area is the Triangle region, but anyone across the state can participate.

NOTE: It is completely free to participate in Triangle Turtle Trekkers! This Virtual Citizen Science program is intended to be a supplemental activity for your classroom or group to get an in-depth look at a real-life wildlife research study and meet some of our live Ambassador Animals.

This supplemental program will include:

  • A 30-minute interactive presentation with live box turtles, and an in-depth tutorial on our Triangle Turtle Trekkers project

  • 3 virtual check-ins from PWC, with updates on our on-site box turtle study

  • PDF files of our Turtle Trekkers flyer, how-to guides, and more!

Duration: 4 weeks (Initial 30-minute virtual presentation with three weekly 20-minute virtual check-ins)

Pricing: $150
