Fishing Blackwood.jpg

Tucked away on Highway 86, Blackwood Farm Park offers a variety of peaceful outdoor activities. This 152 acre Orange County park contains picturesque creeks, hiking trails, historic buildings, and a fishing pond that make this location a special spot to come for Piedmont Wildlife Center camps.

This park is a remnant of a 19th century plantation, and the county parks department has preserved multiple historic structures. It is imperative that we discuss this history with our staff and campers, amplify the stories of the indigenous and enslaved peoples who cared for the land, and continue learning about and examining the parks’ legacy. Please let us know if you have perspectives or resources to share - we are always interested in getting others involved in our journey.
