In 2021, we added a new Ambassador Animal team for Running Wild 2.0: Team Pepper!

Pepper is a Virginia opossum. She was found as an orphaned baby along with her sister in the spring of 2020. They were brought to Our Wild Neighbors, a rehabilitation center in Hillsborough NC, where they were cared for until they reached an age that they could be released. Pepper’s sister was released in the late summer, but Pepper had not grown much at all, and the rehabbers decided she may not survive in the wild due to her size. Pepper arrived at PWC in September 2020, and has been teaching people about her often-misunderstood species ever since.
