GivingTuesday 2023

GivingTuesday is November 28th, 2023 - and this year, we’re looking to the future of Piedmont Wildlife Center!

In January, we celebrated Piedmont Wildlife Center's 20th anniversary, marking two decades of conservation and outdoor education. Now, as 2023 draws to a close, we're turning our sights to the future! Your support helped us connect 7,319 people with nature at our camps and wildlife programs last year alone. How many more lives can we change in the next 20 years?

This GivingTuesday, November 28th, join us in soaring into the next 20 years of nature connection at PWC:

  • Take advantage of donation matching on GlobalGiving by giving on November 28th - and help unlock an additional $2,000 match from our board!

  • Meet our 2 newest Ambassador Animals, including one North American species never before seen at PWC.

  • Join our staff and Ambassador Animals at the Triangle Nonprofit & Volunteer Leadership Center's inaugural Bid for Better: A GivingTuesday Nonprofit Auction, November 28th from 6:30-8:30 PM at the Kramden Institute (tickets available now!)

  • Get involved by registering for an upcoming volunteer orientation or joining our citizen science project, Triangle Turtle Trekkers.

GivingTuesday is a movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. Since 2012, nonprofits, donors, and everyday change-makers worldwide have observed a global day of giving on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Together, we can reimagine a world built upon shared humanity and generosity.

Help us soar past our $4,000 goal this GivingTuesday!

Summer Solstice Celebration

On June 24th, Piedmont Wildlife Center is welcoming more than the summer season. We're welcoming YOU back to our cabin!

Join us at Leigh Farm Park on Saturday, June 24th from 1-3 PM for our Summer Solstice Celebration. Visit our reptile and mammal Ambassador Animals in the cabin, which will be open to visitors for the first time since 2020. Marvel at our new mural by artist Sarah Pritchard, shop PWC t-shirts and other merch at our pop-up Nature Store, and celebrate the unveiling of PWC's very own Little Free Library. Then head over to Fox Circle for some quiet reflection... before joining in an exciting camp game or birds of prey tour!

All ages are welcome at this FREE event. Suggested donations of $10/family will support our conservation and education programs. We'll also be accepting donations of books related to nature, wildlife, and/or our core values (gratitude, respect, curiosity, inclusivity, awareness) for our Little Free Library.

Light refreshments will be provided. It will likely be hot, so bring your reusable water bottle!

PLEASE NOTE: While our cabin is wheelchair accessible, some outdoor spaces at this event may be inaccessible to wheelchairs, walking aids, and those with additional mobility concerns. Since we are on a City of Durham park, we are limited in the improvements and additions we can implement. If you have any concerns or questions, please call us at 919-489-0900 prior to the event.
