COVID-19 Update: Additional Program Changes

We are suspending all programming until May 15th, at which time we will update the summer season program plan. We had to choose this date in order to make the wisest decisions based on the newest information.

For the current time, we are extending the refund policy for summer camps to May 15. You will be able to get a refund up until 11:59.59 PM on May 15 minus a $10 administration fee for each week of camp, which covers the costs we incur from Active. You will need to email camp@piedmontwildlifecenter.org to start the cancelation process.

Thank you for your support, patience and understanding. We know that many people in our community had to make a ton of tough choices recently.

We hope that you all find the opportunity to build your nature connections in the coming weeks. We’ll still be posting our experiences on Facebook. Visit our page, say hello, and share your thoughts on the importance of connecting to nature!

Some Good News: We have a new Executive Director!

Piedmont Wildlife Center is excited to announce that Karen McCall is our new executive director! Here is a message from her:

Greetings, Piedmont Wildlife Center Community,

I am happy to bring you some good news! It is with honor that I have accepted the Executive Director position of our organization and will assume that role the first of April. I began my time here as a volunteer with the Raptor Team and then got hired as the Camp Coordinator in the spring of 2012. Eight years has flown by, we have grown by leaps and bounds, experienced lots of change, and have a pandemic to navigate through (please check our website and Facebook for program updates).

Those changes are always exciting, sometimes scary, sometimes bittersweet. I welcome all of those emotions along with the challenges this new position will bring me. Several of our staff have moved to different positions; we have a new Office Administrator, Brian Lockhart, and some new board members. We have a lot of new roles and the perfect season to begin them!

I am an avid outdoors person, and love to backpack, run, swim, hike, bike, sail, and sit, but I especially love being out in the woods with our kids and staff, and chatting with parents. My plan is to carve out time to come say hello to all, maybe jump into a quick game or morning circle. In the meantime, our board and staff, old and new, are excited to work together to forward our mission, develop new programs, and bring new people into our lives.

Thank you for being part of our community, continuing to support us, and working with us to make the world a more sustainable, friendly place!

COVID-19 Action Plan: Program Updates

All spring camps scheduled from March 16th to April 3rd are cancelled. Afterschool and Homeschool programs will be postponed until the week of April 6th unless further separation actions are needed. Thank you for helping keep our community safe, healthy, and supported. Meanwhile, find a nice place to sit outside for a while, observe nature, and just be. Grab a journal and draw or write about experiences. Share with us on Facebook!
