Some Good News: We have a new Executive Director!

Piedmont Wildlife Center is excited to announce that Karen McCall is our new executive director! Here is a message from her:

Greetings, Piedmont Wildlife Center Community,

I am happy to bring you some good news! It is with honor that I have accepted the Executive Director position of our organization and will assume that role the first of April. I began my time here as a volunteer with the Raptor Team and then got hired as the Camp Coordinator in the spring of 2012. Eight years has flown by, we have grown by leaps and bounds, experienced lots of change, and have a pandemic to navigate through (please check our website and Facebook for program updates).

Those changes are always exciting, sometimes scary, sometimes bittersweet. I welcome all of those emotions along with the challenges this new position will bring me. Several of our staff have moved to different positions; we have a new Office Administrator, Brian Lockhart, and some new board members. We have a lot of new roles and the perfect season to begin them!

I am an avid outdoors person, and love to backpack, run, swim, hike, bike, sail, and sit, but I especially love being out in the woods with our kids and staff, and chatting with parents. My plan is to carve out time to come say hello to all, maybe jump into a quick game or morning circle. In the meantime, our board and staff, old and new, are excited to work together to forward our mission, develop new programs, and bring new people into our lives.

Thank you for being part of our community, continuing to support us, and working with us to make the world a more sustainable, friendly place!
