Our Wild for a Days are special one-day camps held on teacher workdays and other holidays. Join us in the forest for the day as we practice naturalist and survival skills, explore the parks, meet the local wildlife, and play some of our favorite woodland games!
We run Wild for a Day camps from two different locations in Wake County. Our Junior Naturalist Days are based at Historic Yates Mill County Park, and our traditional Wild for a Day camps are based at Umstead State Park.
CITs (Counselors in Training) are required to attend Outdoor Leadership Camp.

Track Out Camp
Drop-off: 8:30 - 9:00 AM
Pick-up: 2:45 - 3:00 PM

Spend a week in the wild with some of our favorite camp themes! These camps are designed for spring breaks or track-out schools. Campers will have a week to learn specific skills and play our favorite Piedmont Wildlife Center games!
We operate track out camp from two different locations in Wake County. Our Junior Naturalist program is based at Historic Yates Mill County Park, while our traditional track out camps are based at Crowder County Park.
CITs (Counselors in Training) are required to attend Outdoor Leadership Camp.

Looking for childcare outside of our scheduled programming? If you have a group of 8 - 12 campers, we can run a custom adventure just for you! Please email camp@piedmontwildlifecenter.org for space and staff availability.

Everything in nature is connected. From mushrooms to coyotes, join us to explore what makes up an ecosystem! We will investigate trees from their roots to their leaves and track animals by their scat. Discover what makes a plant grow, what makes water flow, and how all things, living and nonliving, are woven into the web of life.

Join Piedmont Wildlife Center for our brand new Junior Naturalist Program! Each day, campers will learn about the natural world through hands-on investigation and scientific inquiry. This week, campers will explore the rich water resources at Historic Yates Mill County Park. We will search for macroinvertebrates, design water quality experiments, and learn about endangered animals from real scientists! This camp is perfect for a budding ecologist or nature lover!

Comfort and community can be built anywhere! In this camp, we will learn about shelters, fires, and primitive structures of all kinds. Learn what makes good mud, where to find the best rocks, and how to make a roof waterproof! Join us as we explore the forests and streams while responsibly using the resources the land has given us!
