#WildGrownPWC on Giving Tuesday

Mark your calendars: Giving Tuesday is November 30th, 2021!

#GivingTuesday is an internationally recognized global day of generosity that many people and organizations celebrate, including Piedmont Wildlife Center. This Giving Tuesday, we’re celebrating all things “Wild Grown” at PWC. We’ve grown a lot over the years, and we’re so grateful for the many memories, connections, animals, and of course, people that have grown with us!

On November 30th, 2021, join Piedmont Wildlife Center on Facebook Live at 10AM EST for a special Virtual Celebration of our #WildGrownPWC community! We will introduce some of your favorite Ambassador Animals, share nature knowledge, and talk about how you can help PWC connect people with nature - plus a few exciting surprises! Stay tuned for more details over the coming weeks.

Help us get the word out about our GivingTuesday event! Share your favorite PWC memories using the hashtag #WildGrownPWC and mark your calendars for 10 AM EST on November 30th, 2021.

Sponsor Our Spooky Ambassadors

We’re excited to announce that Kellogg, the corn snake and Ash, the eastern screech owl are now available to be sponsored through our Adopt-An-Ambassador program! Through either a 3-month or one-year sponsorship, you’ll receive letters directly from your sponsored animal throughout the months. Within these letters, you’ll receive exclusive pictures and videos of your sponsored animal exploring their home at Piedmont Wildlife Center.

Adopt-An-Ambassador sponsorships are great for birthday presents, holiday presents, classrooms or just for fun! With your sponsorship, you will be supporting our ambassadors’ daily husbandry needs including food, enrichment and medical care.

Sponsor an ambassador today to join the over 50 sponsors who have committed to supporting Piedmont Wildlife Center’s ambassadors! We are truly grateful for each and everyone of our sponsors.

Special thanks to Jenna Williams, our Conservation Assistant, for her work on creating this video.

A Season of Growth

The PWC garden in midsummer bloom

The PWC garden in midsummer bloom

Summer is in full swing at Piedmont Wildlife Center! Throughout Leigh Farm Park, kids are playing, animals are thriving, and the sun is shining! Just like our community, our garden continues to grow and grow. This spring, we planted a variety of vegetables to feed our Ambassador Animals and flowers to support native pollinators! Unsurprisingly, the animals seem to love the home-grown veggies and we're sure they are craving more. We've had lots of visitors to the pollinator plants, including several species of bees, butterflies, and even hummingbirds!

With the help of generous monetary and supply donations, the front of the PWC cabin has gone from a weedy patch to a bountiful bed. It’s been such a success that we constructed an additional raised bed to even more herbs, vegetables and pollinator plants!

Some other notable projects are also moving forward as planned. We've completed demolition of our old red-shouldered hawk enclosure, and are preparing to build a new one in its place. We're excited to finally begin visiting camps, school groups, and more with our Ambassador Animals. Lastly, our summer interns just completed their internships and their respective Capstone projects. These projects include an obstacle course for our squirrel and opossum, a content queue including videos and photos of our fabulous Ambassador Animals, and garden identification signs!

Of course, all that we have completed in these past few months would not be possible without our donors. We are so thankful and appreciative of everything that you have provided for us. Your donations help us out greatly, whether it be for projects like the ones completed this summer, or supplies used to care for the animals!

Stay tuned for updates on the garden, PWC events, and more!
