The forest is full of clues! Join us as we search for tracks, scat, animal habitats, and more! Campers will engage their five senses to learn about the life cycle, diet, and behavior of our woodland neighbors. Become a detective and help us solve the mysteries of the forest!

*This is a four-day camp to honor the holiday of Juneteenth

June 23-27: Nature Explorers

Let curiosity be your guide! Each day is a different adventure where we will discover the secrets of nature through outdoor games, hands-on activities, and question-based learning. Campers will connect with the many plants and animals of Piedmont by exploring the environments they occupy!

June 30- July 3: Fairy Folklore

Fairies, gnomes, trolls, and sprites! We will hear ancient stories and lore from around the world. Together we will construct fairy villages and gnome homes. We will adventure to magical places in the forest to look for elusive friends. Make a costume from nature’s bounty and invent mystical tales of your own. This week is all about imagination!

*This is a four-day camp due to the July 4th holiday

July 7-11: Woodland Games

Fully engage your mind and body while playing some of PWC’s famous woodland games! Join us for story-driven games that encourage appreciation of the natural world. Children will learn to work in groups and resolve conflicts in a safe environment. During these games, your child will strive to be quiet as a fox, fast as a wolf, and persistent as the wind!

July 14-18: Swamp Crawlers

Join us on our summer’s biggest swamp safari! It will be a week of getting wet, muddy, and having fun as we explore the ecology of wetlands. Learn all about aquatic life and water quality. Be ready to get up close and personal with the animals and plants that call the swamp their home!

July 21-25: Web of Life

Everything in nature is connected. From mushrooms to coyotes, join us to explore what makes up an ecosystem! We will investigate trees from their roots to their leaves and track animals by their scat. Discover what makes a plant grow, what makes water flow, and how all things, living and nonliving, are woven into the web of life.

July 28- Aug 1: Doodlebugs

Have you ever marveled at the delicate skeletons of leaves adorning the trees? They are the work of Doodlebugs, nature’s indirect artists! Embrace your inner creator by engaging in activities that explore the Doodlebug life cycle through clay creations, investigating and crafting your own habitat, and participating in games that capture the challenges these remarkable creatures face in their journey.

August 4-8: Mystery Week

What is Mystery Week? A week full of fun and surprises: each day, the theme will be something different. Monday might be about Owls and Tuesday might be about Fire Building. Every day will be a new experience with different activities and nature exploration.

August 11-15: Village Camp

Welcome to Village Camp! This week, each group will work together through hands-on study and creative play, We will create our own village community in the forest. First, we will build the physical structures of our village, and then create natural crafts and tools such as baskets, counsel sticks, pigments, small pots, and much more! We will learn to barter some of our creations with different villages.

August 18-22: Branching Out

 
 
 

Branch out with us and learn more about trees and your place in the forest. We will get to know the quiet giants of the forest through up-close examination, sensory learning, and games. We will learn what trees can teach us and how to use the materials they leave behind.
