Camp Tesitmonials

  • My daughter enjoyed the aid back, comfortable, friendly setting and vibe. The counselors were welcoming and created a fun-filled atmosphere. -Carmen Koger
  • The counselors seemed to be kid-loving individuals with great integrity. I was very impressed.
  • My son just loved being outdoors and learning about nature. I really liked how the counselors were invested in the education of the children, but still knew how to make things fun.
  • My kid could get genuinely grubby, and the topics were things that really fascinated him.
  • My boys loved the wilderness camps. They learned a lot, had a great time, and came back worn out after a great day of a lot of physical activity. This was exactly what we were looking for in a camp. The counselors were great (we still hear stories about gumby) and they all did a great job keeping the kids occupied and interested in the different games and activities. They will definitely be coming back this spring and summer! -Cathy Anderson
  • My son loved being outdoors and enjoyed telling us about all the interesting things he learned. It was a nice change of pace from the indoor school environment. -Kristin Gilchrist
  • The kids love it. They are exposed to the outdoors, learn about nature, and stretch their ways of thinking.
  • Loved it, as did my son! To sum it up, fun, healthy and educational! Nothing like it in the Triangle! -Giovanna
  • When asked to rate this camp on a scale of 1-10, my son said, “20; off the charts!”
  • Fabulous outdoor experience for my child. I especially appreciated the maturity level and expertise of the counselors. Games were very creative.
  • My kids came home happy, filthy, and exhausted each day. My 8 year old son really learned a lot about plants and wildlife and is looking forward to returning again. He can’t say enough about Gumby, in particular, who is marvelously knowledgeable.
  • Beck and Zoey enjoyed their summer at camp. I especially liked the email updates from the counselors which allowed us to talk more about what they were doing each day. A simple question over dinner could spark a great conversation. We continue to hear and talk about trips to Mars, owl eyes, bird calls, kill sites, goat’s milk ricotta, animal tracks and scat, and favorite games. We appreciate the relaxed atmosphere, time to just play, and plenty of fuel for our budding naturalists.
  • Hannah came home happy, dirty and tired every day during both sessions. We recommended the camp to a friend and he attended second session this year also – his first camp experience – and LOVED IT!
  • Your camps have added so much to my child’s life. They seem to me to be not so much “enrichment activities” (which sounds ghastly) but more a place where kids can have the kind of summer their parents remember having — hanging out in the woods, goofing off on the tire swing, etc. and all the while soaking up important information about the world around them. Yet the “active instruction” also adds so much. I think you’ve struck a good balance of hands on/hands off. We hear all the time about how kids can’t just be kids anymore, and that’s very true. But PWC offers a place where my child can just be a kid, and I’m so grateful for that. I can’t say enough good things about your camps!
  • It seems children these days don’t get many chances to just “go out and play” and run around in the woods like I did when I was young. I love that my daughter got to spend so much time outside at camp, exploring nature, learning about plants, and using the outdoors as her classroom and playground.-Jill Foster
  • Kids LOVE this camp! Many of my friends use it, and I have never heard of a kid who didn’t love it.
  • My children thought this was the best camp they’d ever been to, and we’ve been to dozens. We will probably be back for most of the summer next year . One of my children wants to “go to Kindergarten” with you!
  • My daughter Tori loves coming to Piedmont! Whether it is cold weather or warm weather, she doesn’t care, as long as she can learn about nature and wildlife!
  • I love that the children spend their days outdoors and learning about wildlife/nature. I love how my son is learning by actually going out and doing. He teaches us things that he has learned in PWC camp all the time. I also really love the laid back nature of this camp. My son spends enough time sitting down in the very structured environment of his school. I love how he gets to spend all day outdoors just being a kid and having fun at PWC camp–yet still learning. This is the camp that my son compares all other camps to–we have tried a few others but he always insists on coming back to PWC camp (or Swamp Camp, as he calls it). PWC camps have great counselors who seem to love what they are doing. -Julie Machulsky
  • My kids love this camp! I love that they get out in the woods. They come home every night dusty and tired but full of great stories and facts. We did this camp last summer, too, and months later, we were still hearing stories!

  1. PWC’s on-site presentation was nothing short of excellent. The presenter did an absolutely amazing job of crafting a presentation that not only engaged children with an age span of eight years, but ignited in them a fire to return to the classroom and research about animals and their habitats. PWC provided a rare opportunity for our students to engage with wildlife in a safe and educational way–what a fantastic experience for all of our students!
