Now Hiring–Summer Camp 2017 Staff
Piedmont Wildlife Center, is seeking creative, dynamic individuals who are passionate about connecting children to nature. We currently have open summer camp positions in all three of our locations around the Triangle:
Leigh Farm Park, Durham, NC
Umstead Park, Raleigh, NC
Blackwood Farm Park, Chapel Hill, NC
Substitute Counselors are the first contacts on the sub-list in the event that a counselor is absent. Camp substitutes could be called in to fill in morning care/aftercare or day camp in place of another counselor. The camps subs should be able to work at all three sites throughout the summer. When not subbing in a camp, camp subs will have the option of assisting in administrative support in the office. Candidates must be age 18 or older, a high school graduate, have experience working with children, and be comfortable in an outdoor, summer setting. This is a seasonal position, June 12 – August 25. Compensation is $10-$12/hour based on experience.
Aftercare Counselors are responsible for child care after the standard camp day has ended. Responsibilities include facilitating activities, tending to camper safety, interfacing with guardians, signing out campers, dismissing interns/support staff, and maintaining camp spaces. Candidates must be college graduates or currently enrolled, have experience working with children, and be comfortable in an outdoor, summer setting. This is a part-time seasonal position, June 12 – August 25. Typical work week is M-F, 2:45 – 5:30pm. Compensation is $10/hour.
Note: The Durham position will also have the option of morning care hours M-F, 7:45am-9:15am.
