Scholarships

Do you know a child or teen who would love to spend a week out in nature with experienced mentors but who cannot afford a week of camp?
Do you know a family who would like to give their kids a very special opportunity to learn about nature and explore the outdoors but does not have the money to do so?

Please help us make these dreams possible!  If you know a young person who would benefit from our camps but who is unable to attend due to financial difficulties, please nominate him or her for one of these scholarships. Each scholarship supports a week of camp for one camper during our winter, spring, or summer camp seasons.

Qualifications:

    • The campers must be interested in nature and the outdoors
    • Campers must be between 4-18 years of age
    • Funding for the scholarship extends only until August 20th, 2012
    • The campers must reside in Durham, Orange, Wake or Chatham county
    • New campers as well as campers who are returning from previous weeks are all welcome to apply
    • Families may submit a nomination for their children.  Family friends, counselors, teachers and other members of the community may also nominate youth.

If you would like to nominate a camper, email the following information to pwc@piedmontwildlifecenter.org:

  • The camper’s name, age and contact information
  • Why do you think the camper would be a good match for our programs?
  • How do you think they would benefit?
  • Why the youth should be considered for a scholarship program (what financial limitations does the family face)
  • For which week of camp would you like to apply?  (The week must fall between now and August 20.)

Nominations are due on or before March 15, 2012.   Nominations received prior to the deadline will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

If your child is selected, you will be charged a $25.00 administrative fee.

Thank you for helping us achieve this dream for the young people of our community!
