Create Your Own PWC Fund Raising Page for Wildlife!

Baby slider We have found a new way for you to support wildlife by helping Piedmont Wildlife Center raise money for wildlife by creating your own fund raising page at Firstgiving, an online fund raising site we are using to raise money. Will you help us?

Firstgiving is a site that supports fundraising efforts for nonprofit organizations, and through them, you can create your own fundraising page and send a link to everyone on your email list asking for their support. Firstgiving makes it easy, and the content and appeal is up to you.

Times are tough, and it seems like a bad time to be asking people for money. But at the same time, wildlife in need shouldn't have to rely on prosperity. Now, more than ever, is when we could use help from new people, even in small increments. You won't have to contact strangers or ask for donations in person - just send an email to your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers letting them know how important Piedmont Wildlife Center is to native wildlife and asking them to support your fund raising efforts on behalf of thousands of wild animals that can't ask themselves!

Here are a couple of ideas to use for your appeal:

* Have a virtual birthday party, Christmas, baby shower, or other event, where people can donate in lieu of gifts;

* Have a page in honor of an animal lover, favorite pet or wild animal you rescued;

* Ask for a voluntary "payroll deduction" - even the small amounts help;

* Challenge your nature group, PTA, or homeschool organization to "match" their birdwatcher's life list (like $2 per bird), or wildlife species found during an outing with the kids, or animal tracks - be creative!

* Ask your friends to sponsor you in an upcoming marathon, event or competition.

This page can get you started, and you won't need to know webdesign. It takes only a few minutes. We now have a Flickr page of photos up here - please feel free to use these photos on your own fund raising page if you like.

And here's some of the existing pages:
