Nature Awareness Intensives
This is a four part series of classes for people interested in advanced naturalist skills. It is a highly experiential class where we will do exercises designed to deepen our awareness and connection to the natural world. These exercises are some of the best tools and techniques that we have for developing greater sensory awareness and understanding of our bioregion. This is a college level experience so expect to do homework between classes that will revolve around some core routines including sit spots and journaling. Developing a relationship with our place through the sit spot is a key aspect of this class. The sit spot is a tremendous teacher that helps us to begin identifying the plants and animals outside of our door, understanding their lives, and developing a closer connection with them. We’ll learn to interpret concentric rings and develop an advanced awareness. Bring a notebook and pencil and come ready to experience nature in an entirely new way! We encourage you to come to each of the classes. These classes are designed to build on and complement one another; however students can take one class at a time.
