Animal Care

Animal Care Team

The animal care team currently helps take care of several snakes, box turtles, a diamondback terrapin, a rabbit, a dove, and chickens.  Our team also takes care of our feeder animals (crickets, roaches, worms).  See our animals here!  These and other animals that are residing at our center need care daily and we continually need help!  Animal care includes feeding and watering animals, moving from indoor to outdoor enclosures (as weather permits), and cleaning cages.  You must be okay with handling all of our animals as well as getting dirty.  Animal care is not a clean job!  Children may volunteer for animal care if an adult is supervising, or if they are deemed responsible by the animal program manager.

You must join a two-hour training session if you would like to be involved in the animal care team. Once trained, you can sign up for shifts on the online Animal Care Calendar (Google Calendar).

Training sessions are announced periodically, as the need arises for additional volunteers.  Fill out the volunteer registration form.  If you are interested in volunteering immediately and can commit to a weekly or bi-weekly feeding shift, email us.
