North Star Advanced Skills Camp

Teen Camp for ages 11-17.

This camp is for motivated teens to take the next step in wilderness skills.  In our week together, we will hone skills that are only touched upon in other camps and we will create something that will be a part of our community for years to come.  This year, we will participate in building a mandan, an ancient primitive structure.  Practice  skills in lashing, woodcraft, and wilderness living.  Learn how to work hew wood, work stone, lash rope and harness your own strength.  Using hatchets, draw knives and other tools of the trade, you will develop the skills that allow you to be truly close to nature.   The next time that you step down into the mandan that we build together, you will be able to smell the smoke and see the shafts of sunlight hitting the earthen floor and  you will know that we have accomplished something real, lasting and powerful.
